Driver, 19, critical after North Lincolnshire crash

A teenage driver is critically ill and a 14-year-old boy seriously hurt after a road crash in North Lincolnshire.

A Land Rover Defender was in collision with a VW Transporter van at the Catch Water Crossroads in Messingham in the early hours on Saturday.

The 19-year-old van driver from Snaith and his 14-year-old passenger from Selby were taken to hospital.

The 48-year-old male driver of the Land Rover was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Humberside Police said all three were initially taken to Scunthorpe General Hospital.

The 19-year-old was later transferred to the intensive care unit at York Hospital with numerous fractures to the body, internal injuries and a head injury.

Police said the 14-year-old was transferred to Sheffield Hospital with multiple fractures and internal injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
