Bridlington crash teenager was 'one in a million'

The part-time lifeguard recently saved a young boy's life, his mother said

The mother of a teenager killed in a road crash in East Yorkshire has paid tribute to him and spoken of the "irreplaceable gap" left by his death.

Lewis Redshaw, 19, from Bridlington, was driving a green BMW which crashed on a country road between Grindale and Burton Fleming at 2045 GMT on Tuesday.

The car left the road and stopped in a field near the Argham Lane crossroads.

Mr Redshaw's mother Jane Marshall said he was a "kind and caring" son who was "one in a million".

Mrs Marshall said: "He had a wicked sense of humour and had a strong enthusiastic character which filled a room and made everyone smile."

She added: "My son was one in a million - he has left an irreplaceable gap. I couldn't have wished for a better son.

"We had a special bond and he was always there for me. He filled me with pride everyday.

"Lewis will leave a big hole in a lot of people's lives and because of his young and enthusiastic outlook on life, people who knew him will look back and smile at his memory."

Mrs Marshall said her son, a student at East Riding College, worked as a part-time lifeguard and recently rescued a young boy at Cayton Bay.

She said Mr Redshaw's idol was Bob Marley and he visited the musician's grave during a trip to Jamaica in November.

The teenager leaves behind his mother, father, a sister and two brothers.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash to come forward.
