Asbestos warning follows thefts

Thieves targeting a derelict office in Hull are putting their health at risk because the site contains large amounts of asbestos, police have warned.

The warning comes as the former Heron Frozen Foods head office on Walcott Street is being demolished.

A police spokesman said: "Although the site has clear signs warning people of the presence of asbestos, it has been entered on several occasions.

"As well as asbestos, there is danger from a structurally unsound building."

The latest incident was reported on Monday night when thieves broke into the boarded-up the premises and stole copper piping and wiring.
