The family of a heavily-pregnant woman who was stabbed in the street have described her death as "by the far the worst pain" they have ever endured.

Claire Wilson, 21, was stabbed in the back on Pasture Street, Grimsby, on Sunday afternoon while walking to work at Pizza Hut.

Alan McMullan, 53, has been charged with murder.

In a statement Miss Wilson's family said they were now "trying to put their lives back together".

They said: "This is by far the worst pain our family has ever had to endure, however we would like to express our thanks to people who went out of their way to help Claire and support us.

"We are now trying to put our lives back together and find some form of normality after this event which has changed our lives forever and taken Claire away from us."

Mr McMullen, of Sherwood Road, Grimsby, has been remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on 16 June.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
