Man in court over stabbing murder

A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a heavily-pregnant woman who was stabbed in the street while on her way to work.

Alan McMullan, 53, is accused of killing Claire Wilson, 21, in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, on Sunday.

The mother-to-be died along with her unborn child when she was stabbed in the back in Pasture Street.

Mr McMullen, of Sherwood Road, Grimsby, was remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on 16 June.

There was no application for bail.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
