Work will begin on health units

The new units will service people in North East Lincolnshire

Work on a £14m mental health unit in Grimsby which will serve North East Lincolnshire is set to begin in the next few days.

Four purpose-built units will be constructed on Peaks Lane in the town to replace the services on offer at the Diana Princess of Wales hospital.

Health officials have said the current provision for mental health services were not in the "right environment".

The work on the new units is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Director of Mental Health Kevin Bond said: "It has been a long journey with plenty of ups and downs, but finally we can see the culmination of all the hard work.

"Our current facilities at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital are not the right environment for the communities needs.

"The Peaks Lane development will ensure a modern state of the art facility in which the people of North East Lincolnshire can get the excellent service they deserve."
