Drug dogs help festive crackdown

Drug dogs are being used by police in Scunthorpe to help sniff out criminals as part of a festive crackdown on driving under the influence.

It is part of a Humberside force-wide campaign which started on Monday.

Officers in the town will be patrolling on foot and in two specially-marked vehicles over the Christmas period to catch out offenders.

Nationally, more than 500 people were killed last year as a result of driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
