No injury 'miracle' in log crash

Collision beteen LGV carrying timber and car
The driver of the car was taken to hospital with minor injuries

Fire crews in North East Lincolnshire say it was a "miracle" no one was seriously injured when an LGV shed its load of timber on to a passing car.

The logs fell in a crash between two lorries on Pelham Road in Immingham.

A man driving in the opposite direction was trapped in his estate car by the timber and was freed by fire fighters. He is in hospital with minor injuries.

A fire service spokesman said: "It is a miracle that the car wasn't totally crushed in the incident."

He added: "It is also lucky that there were no pedestrians in the vicinity at the time of the collision.

"Our crews were faced with a very challenging task which was made worse by the possibility of the logs slipping and crushing emergency service workers on scene."
