Shipping firm's jobs under threat

More than 100 workers at a shipping company in North East Lincolnshire have been told they could be made redundant.

Union officials say CdMR Killingholme, which operates from the Humber Sea Terminal near Immingham, has started a 90-day consultation over job cuts.

The company, which is owned by Belgian group Cobelfret, declined to comment.

Meanwhile, steel giant Corus has shut down one of its three furnaces, reducing output by a fifth, in nearby Scunthorpe amid a drop in orders.

The company said that there was no threat of job losses at the moment, but overtime had been cancelled.
