Pair pulled from quarry in rescue

Two men who fell into a quarry filled with water in North East Lincolnshire were treated in hospital after a two-hour rescue operation by firefighters.

Three fire engines and a search helicopter from RAF Leconfield were involved in the rescue at a quarry at Corus steelworks in Scunthorpe.

The incident happened just before midnight on Saturday.

A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue said it was unclear why the pair were at the quarry at that time.

They were not believed to work at the steelworks.
