Doctors have put a man involved in a car crash into a medically-induced coma after his blood became infected as a result of his injuries.

The unnamed man was driving a Peugeot 106 which collided with a VW Golf on Riplingham Road in Riplingham in East Yorkshire on Tuesday evening.

The 20-year-old driver was taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with a broken leg but his condition deteriorated.
