Agency puts flood alerts in place

Flooding in Hull last summer
Parts of Yorkshire were also hit by severe flooding in 2007

Three areas in the Humber region have been placed on flood alert by the Environment Agency.

Holderness, the River Foulness and the River Hull have been put on flood watch as rain continues to hit the region.

A flood watch is the Environment Agency's lowest alert status and means that flooding of low lying land and roads is expected.

People have been advised to keep updated through news outlets and to call the Floodline on 0845 988 1188.

The areas affected by the flood watches are the Holderness area from Carnaby to Kilnsea, the River Foulness at Market Weighton and its tributaries and the upper catchment of the River Hull, including Kilham, Driffield, Leconfield and Beeford.
