Revamped railway station reopens

A railway station in North East Lincolnshire has reopened after a £500,000 refurbishment.

The improvements at Cleethorpes station include facilities for disabled people and customer help points. A CCTV system has also been installed.

It has been funded by First TransPennine Express, North East Lincolnshire Council and the government's department for transport.

Improvements have also been made to the waiting room and public toilets.

New investment

Dean Lancaster, station manager at Cleethorpes, said: "The improvements are fantastic and feedback from passengers who have used the station has been positive.

"It is great to see this investment in Cleethorpes."

The newly refurbished station will be officially unveiled by Immingham and Barton MP Shona McIsaac on Friday.

Michele Cusack, director of regeneration at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: "We are delighted with the way First TransPennine Express and the council have worked together to achieve these improvements.

"We are hopeful that this is just the start of a successful partnership aimed at bringing new investment and regeneration to the station and the surrounding area of our excellent seaside resort."
