Man tied and robbed at knifepoint

A pensioner has been attacked and tied up in his home by a thief who ransacked the property before leaving with a laptop computer, cash and a phone.

Humberside Police said the 74-year-old man answered a knock at his front door on Bentley Grove in Hull and found a man waiting there.

The thief forced his way in to the house and threatened the occupant with a knife before tying him up.

Officers said the attacker was in his early 20s and had short brown hair.

The elderly resident told police he had been tied up by the thief who, at one point, carried him upstairs and went on to conduct "an untidy search" of the rooms.

The pensioner was able to raise the alarm after the thief left the property.

A police spokesman said the resident had suffered a cut lip and had red marks from the restraints.

Anyone with information about the attack, which happened on Friday night, is asked to contact police.
