A woman has been sexually assaulted at knifepoint by two men as she walked home after a night out in Scunthorpe.
The 45-year-old was dragged into an alley near West Street car park behind the Blarney Stone nightclub, which she had left at about 0300 BST on Saturday.
The woman told police that one man held her down while the other assaulted her in the garden of an empty property.
She is being treated at Scunthorpe General Hospital for internal injuries and bruising to the legs and abdomen.
'Nasty offence'
Her attackers are described as being of mixed race and speaking with foreign accents. Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Det Sgt Ivan Simms, from Scunthorpe CID, said: "Whilst this was a particularly nasty offence incidents of this nature are fortunately very rare in Scunthorpe.
"However people do still need to be vigilant and should report anything they see or hear that they think is suspicious to the police.
"I would also urge people, especially women, not to walk around alone at night and always ensure someone knows where you are and that you have arranged for somebody to collect you or accompany you home after a night out."
