Detectives have identified a man whose body was found in a field in an East Yorkshire village.

The body of Frank Garner, 62, had been wrapped in several bin liners, and was found by a dog walker in East Cowick, near Goole on 18 June.

A post-mortem examination has proved inconclusive but police are still investigating.

Mr Garner was reported missing in 2005, and officers believe his body may have been in the field for up to two years.

Further tests have been carried out on his body and police are awaiting the results.

Officers said Mr Garner was reported missing on 30 July, 2005.

A police spokeswoman said: "The investigation into how Mr Garner died is continuing.

"Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity around the area where he was found is asked to contact the major incident team."
