Tolls go towards paying off the bridge's £333m debt

People and businesses affected by the Humber Bridge tolls are being asked to share their opinions as part of a £60,000 impact study.

The study is being funded by the four local authorities on either side of the Humber estuary to see what impact the tolls have on the local economy.

People are being asked to contact civil engineering consultancy Colin Buchanan with their views on the tolls.

The company is due to present its report in September.

Tolls were introduced on the bridge to pay back the £333m cost of building it.

Leaders of Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire councils want to see the tolls scrapped.

Jenny Walton, from Humber Action Against Tolls, said: "This is a golden opportunity for people who feel that the tolls are unfair.

"We urge all bridge users, including businesses, to submit their views."
