Motorway closed after cows escape

An escaped herd of cattle forced the M18 motorway to close on the border of East and South Yorkshire during the morning rush hour.

The motorway was blocked in both directions between the junctions for the M62 and the A614 for more than an hour on Wednesday.

The carriageway closures caused long delays for motorists.

The animals were rounded up and the motorway was cleared and running normally by 1000 BST.
