The Baths Hall original frontage, shown in white, will remain
Plans to spend £15m on a new entertainment venue for Scunthorpe have been approved.

North Lincolnshire Council said the venue, which will replace the town's historic Baths Hall, will cater for 1,200 people seated or 2,000 standing.

A spokesman said the council had agreed a £10m contribution from its capital programme and would be seeking grants worth £5m.

The venue will also include a bar and cafe and conference rooms.

The current Baths Hall frontage is being retained in the makeover.

Mark Kirk, leader of the council, said he hoped the new venue would attract big name acts.

He said: "This is a major investment in Scunthorpe for the people of North Lincolnshire.

"The new entertainment venue will be something people can really be proud of."

The council has launched an online public survey to question people on who they would like to see perform at the new venue.
