Post offices closures announced
Rural post office
Campaigners have fought to save rural post offices
Seven post offices are to close in Humberside and East Yorkshire.

Royal Mail announced the branches were to be shut after a six-week consultation period.

Some of the region's closures will be replaced by mobile outreach outlets which will be open for a maximum of three days a week.

It is part of the government's wider plan to reduce the number of branches nationally by up to 2,500. But critics are worried rural areas will suffer.

Despite concerns from post office watchdog Postwatch the government believes the closures will still mean 99% of the population have access to a post office within three miles of their homes.

Adrian Wales, Post Office Ltd's network development manager, said: "Taking the decision to close any Post Office branch is always very difficult and we know it will cause concern to many of our customers. "

The branches closing are High Street, Eastoft, and West Street, West Butterwick both in Scunthorpe, High Street, Wroot, Doncaster, Main Street, Goole, The Green, North Newbald, York, School Farm, Driffield, The Green, Ingham.
