Raids net thousands of fake goods

A crackdown on counterfeit goods and music piracy in Hull has seen more than 40,000 CDs and DVDs recovered.

Humberside Police have seized items including CDs, DVDs and computer games from three vans at Walton Street market as part of the ongoing operation.

Two men have also been arrested after a haul of counterfeit goods were found in a van on Bricknell Avenue.

Police are working with trading standards officers and the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society (MCPS).

A spokesman for the MCPS anti-piracy unit said: "Buying pirated music costs us all in the long run.

"Piracy takes money out of the economy - money that could otherwise be spent on improving our communities."
