Explosion at fuel storage depot
An investigation is to be launched after an explosion at a fuel storage depot on Immingham Docks.

The Health and Safety Executive is expected to look at what caused the blast in a pump at Simon Storage late on Friday night.

About 20 firefighters, including a specialist hazardous materials unit, were called out as a tank ruptured, spilling 300 tonnes of gas oil.

A Humberside Fire Service spokesman said nobody was hurt in the incident.

Firefighters worked with staff at the site to transfer the spilled fuel into a neighbouring tank.

Environment Agency officers were due to inspect the scene on Saturday, but the fire service said the spill had been contained and there had been no contamination of the surrounding area.
