Pedestrian killed in truck crash
A 53-year-old man was killed when he was hit by an 18 tonne truck as he walked along a motorway slipway.

Paul Ramon Thorpe, from South Yorkshire, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash in Goole after being hit by a Volvo tipper truck on the M62.

It is believed he was walking close to where the slipway joined the motorway.

The truck, driven by a 25-year-old West Yorkshire man, was travelling towards Hull when the accident happened at junction 36 of the motorway.

Humberside Police have appealed to anyone who saw the man walking in the area before the crash on Friday morning to contact them.

He was wearing a three-quarter length coat, a hat and was carrying a bag, a spokeswoman said.

The A164 slipway and two lanes of the M62 eastbound carriageway were closed after the collision.

The outside lane remained open but motorists were warned delays were likely.
