Wind farm plans hit early trouble

Several other power firms want to build wind farms in the region
Plans to create two wind farms in East Yorkshire have run into problems at an early stage of their development.

German firm EON wants to build 15 turbines near Howden and Your Energy Ltd is investigating whether it can put 16 between Howden and Gilberdyke.

Both companies applied to erect weather masts to assess wind speeds.

But East Riding of Yorkshire Council's planning committee has rejected outright EON's plan for a 150ft (46m) mast near Howden.

A decision on Your Energy's mast near Gilberdyke has been left to planning officials in Beverley with a recommendation from councillors that they should turn down the plan.
