People in the East Riding are facing an inflation-busting rise in council tax.
The 4.9% increase - more than twice the rate of inflation - means the bill for an average band D property will increase to £1,055 a year from April.
Politicians at East Riding of Yorkshire Council said the rise was necessary because of extra costs from new council activities like waste recycling.
The part of the bill which funds the police and town and parish councils will also rise above inflation.
