New school death inquest ordered
A fresh inquest has been ordered into the death of teenager found hanged at his school in North East Lincolnshire.

The body of Bradley Parkin, 17, from Cleethorpes, was found hanging behind the stage at the town's Lindsey Upper School in February 2000.

An open verdict was recorded on his death by the coroner.

On Wednesday, High Court judges overturned the verdict and ordered a fresh inquest after hearing new evidence from his mother Shanie Parkin.

Permission granted

The 48-year-old, from Grimsby, says she has expert evidence which questions whether her son hanged himself with the rope found at the scene.

Bradley's body was found by a school caretaker shortly before a parents' evening.

The teenager was described as a talented actor and was studying for A-levels in drama and performing arts.

The High Court challenge was brought with the permission of the Attorney-General, Lord Goldsmith QC.
