Public has say on injuries unit
People are being invited to have their say on the proposed closure of a minor injuries unit in the East Riding.

Yorkshire Wolds and Coast Primary Care Trust said it wanted to close the unit at Hornsea Cottage Hospital to ensure its services are effective.

If approved, the closure would see patients in the East Riding treated at alternative sites within a 15-mile radius of their home, the trust said.

People have until 11 January 2006 to make their views on the plans known.

"The proposals will mean patients will be treated on fewer sites which will secure clinically safe and effective services in the future," said a trust spokesman.

Other changes open to public consultation include making recent changes to the opening times of the minor injuries unit at Withernsea Hospital permanent, so it will stay open from 9am to 9pm.
