A 37-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of an heiress who was found dead at her village home.

The body of Suzy Healey, 39, daughter of Hygena Kitchens millionaire Malcolm Healey, was found in the East Yorkshire village of Ellerker on Monday morning.

Richard Holtby appeared at Beverley Magistrates' Court on Wednesday charged with her murder.

He said he could not give an address and was remanded in custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on 31 August.

Family's shock

Officers found the body after being alerted by a friend of Ms Healey who had been unable to raise her at her home.

The cause of her death has not been disclosed by police but officers have confirmed she did not die of natural causes.

Ms Healey was an animal lover who ran a sanctuary in the grounds of Ellerker Hall.

On Tuesday, her family released a statement saying they were shocked and devastated by her death.
