Man stabbed during New Year party

A 24-year-old man has undergone emergency surgery after he was stabbed in the chest during a New Year's Eve party in Grimsby.

Officers were called to Newsham Drive in the early hours of Saturday. A local man was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious.

A police spokesman said a 24-year-old man was arrested at the scene and a knife has been recovered.

Forensic experts have cordoned off the area while investigations continue.

Police are appealing for anyone who was at the party who have yet to speak to officers to contact them.
