Residents of an East Yorkshire village have been given £135,000 to renovate their village hall.
The cash awarded to Rudstone is a combination of a grant from government department Defra and money from the Landfill Tax Credit Scheme.
Work has started on repairing the roof and there will be new meeting rooms and better catering facilities.
The hall will also house the village post office, replacing one which closed several years ago.
Barbara Moorfoot, who is co-ordinating the project, said: "The hall is the focus of a lot of village activity from bingo to the school play.
"While the building has been extended and added to over the years, it doesn't meet current needs."
On top of the grants, the village hall committee has raised a further £8,000 to pay for redecorating the hall.
