Sea defence work about to start
Work is about to start on a £3m coastal protection scheme for Withernsea in East Yorkshire.

More than 30,000 tonnes of rock will be brought from Norway to help protect the cliffs from further erosion.

The sloping concrete defences will be refurbished and extra groynes installed along the beach.

Funding for the project is coming from the government and the work, for which Costain are the contractors, will take six months to complete.
