Parts of the plane are spread across the field
Police have named the pilot who died when his light aircraft crashed in a field near Sandtoft in North Lincolnshire.

He was Barry Mills, aged 62, of Wilthorpe in Barnsley.

Mr Mills was on his own in the twin-engined Cessna which had just taken off from nearby Sandtoft airfield.

The plane crash landed near the M180 motorway and burst into flames at 1720 BST on Monday.

Police said flying was Mr Mills' hobby and he was on one of his regular pleasure flights from Sandtoft airfield when the crash occurred.

A post-mortem examination on his body is due to take place on Thursday.

Meanwhile, officers from the Air Accident Investigation Branch of the Civil Aviation Authority are continuing their inquiries into the crash.
