Actor Martin Shaw signs petition to save Malvern cafe

Actor Martin Shaw has backed a campaign to save a vegetarian cafe in Worcestershire from closure.

The star of Judge John Deed and a staunch vegetarian has signed a petition calling for St Ann's Well Cafe in the Malvern Hills to be preserved.

The Malvern Hills Conservators announced last October it wanted to evict the manager and take over the running.

But more than 6,000 people have joined a Facebook campaign to save the cafe.

Manager John Redman said of Martin Shaw's support: "He said he'd found it a tranquil place and was lovely for him to get to when he is at the town theatre."
