Man killed when car hits tree in Redditch

A man was killed and his passenger injured when a car is believed to have hit a tree in Worcestershire.

West Mercia Police were called to the A4023 at Redditch on Sunday evening, where the man, thought to be in his early 20s, was pronounced dead.

A passenger in the Vauxhall Corsa involved, a woman believed to be aged 18, was in a stable condition at the Alexandra Hospital in the town.

Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The road was closed for about five hours while investigations were carried out after the crash which happened about 2200 GMT.
