Warning as children seen skating

Police have again been warning youngsters to stay away from frozen lakes and ponds after children were seen playing on some in Herefordshire.

Officers said people were seen skating on the frozen Belmont Lakes in Belmont on Tuesday.

Insp Nick Semper said that although the water surface could look frozen, the ice could crack quickly and without warning.

He added that children could easily become trapped under the ice.
