Dairy employees face redundancy

The Dairy House has stopped deliveries

Between 25 to 30 people are losing their jobs with the closure of a dairy in Herefordshire.

The Dairy House in Weobley was owned by three local organic farmers, Colin Andrews, Robin Taylor and Bob Mason.

It produced cheese, butter, yogurt, cheesecakes and ice cream and employed up to 30 people on a part-time basis.

The closure follows the news last month that the RE Williams abattoir and butcher in Weobley had gone into administration making 20 staff jobless.

The Dairy House stopped its deliveries on Tuesday and insolvency practitioners have been called in, the factory said.

It was featured in a BBC documentary in August called Can You Bank On Me, which followed two city bankers who helped to advise businesses struggling in the credit crunch.
