Students to help sporty children

Youngsters across Worcester are to be coached by university students in a special sports project.

Those behind the scheme, set up by the city council and the University of Worcester, said they thought it was the first of its kind in England.

Two sports coaching students will be based at each of 17 schools to offer extra after-school lessons to children interested in sport.

The programme will run for six weeks from November until Christmas.

It is expected to become an annual event.
