Man arrested over armed stand-off

A man has been arrested after armed police surrounded a flat in Herefordshire for several hours amid reports of a man carrying a gun.

Police entered the property in River View, Ross on Wye, on Tuesday and brought the man out without incident. No weapons were found.

Earlier a woman, thought to be the man's girlfriend, emerged from the property unharmed at 1249 GMT.

Police negotiators had spent several hours trying to resolve the incident.
