New GP service starts next month

People will be able to go to a Hereford health centre without an appointment to see a GP or nurse from mid-December.

The service at the Asda Health Centre will operate seven days a week, between 0800 and 2000 GMT, from 14 December.

It will be an interim arrangement until a permanent walk-in health centre is built next year with government funding of £1.5m, Herefordshire Council said.

NHS Herefordshire was setting up the service at the Asda Health Centre, the council added.

Patients will be able to use the new services whilst remaining registered with their own GP.

The chief executive of NHS Herefordshire and Herefordshire Council, Chris Bull, said: "We are working to make sure that people have more choice, greater convenience and responsive services that fit in with today's busy lifestyles and needs."
