Mayor's appeal to improve bridge

Residents are being urged to help tidy up a bridge which is seen as the gateway to a Worcestershire town.

Paul Thomas, mayor of Upton upon Severn, said it desperately needed to be improved as its dirty appearance was an unwelcome image for the town.

He is encouraging residents to bring brooms and scrubbing brushes to help clean the bridge as well as the surrounding area.

Residents should meet at the bridge from 1100 GMT on Sunday.
