Police happy at festival arrests

The Big Chill festival
More than 40,000 people attended the event last weekend

Police said they were pleased with the low number of arrests at a music festival in Herefordshire, which passed off relatively trouble-free.

About 40,000 people went to the Big Chill event at Eastnor Castle near Ledbury last weekend, police said.

Officers arrested 28 people over four days for offences including possession of drugs with intent to supply, theft and robbery.

A force spokesman said they carried out a large policing operation.

Tent thefts

Fourteen people were arrested for possession of drugs with intent to supply and eight for just possession of drugs, they added.

One person was held for possession and deception, two people for assault, another for theft and one for robbery.

One person was detained under the provisions of the Mental Health Act.

More than 90 thefts - mainly from tents - were also reported to police.
