Driver killed as car leaves road

A woman in her 50s died when the car she was driving left the road and crashed into a wall in Worcestershire.

The driver, who has yet to be identified, died at the scene of the crash on Dagnell End Road in Redditch.

The incident happened at about 1945 BST on Sunday when the woman was driving a green Vauxhall Astra towards Churchill.

Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses. A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out and an inquest will follow.

It is believed the woman had travelled from the Alvechurch area along the A441 towards Redditch before turning left on to Dagnell End Road.

Pc Paul Bosley, from North Worcestershire's road policing unit, said: "This was a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family at this time.

"It is vital that we establish exactly what happened on Sunday and I would urge anyone with information relating to this collision to give us a call, as even the smallest detail can make a significant difference to our inquiries."
