Man, 20, shot during rabbit hunt

A man was taken to hospital after he was accidentally shot while hunting rabbits in Herefordshire.

The 20-year-old was being passed a shotgun through a hedge by another man in Lower Lyde, north of Hereford, when it went off, police said.

The incident happened at about 2100 BST on Saturday.

Police said they had investigated and detectives were satisfied that the injury caused was accidental and that there were no suspicious circumstances.

The injured man is being treated at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The gun contained buck shot designed for use against small animals.
