Ninth arrest over fatal shooting

A ninth person has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a village post office.

Craig Hodson-Walker, 29, was killed during the raid in Fairfield, Worcestershire, on Friday morning.

The woman was arrested on Tuesday evening in Birmingham. Eight people had been arrested in the city earlier.

She and four others are suspected of assisting an offender while the other four are being questioned on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.

Mr Hodson-Walker, who had got engaged at Christmas, was shot during a struggle at Fairfield Post Office and Store, in Stourbridge Road.

Getaway car

Three men wearing balaclavas and armed with a handgun and a sledgehammer had walked in and demanded money.

Mr Hodson-Walker's father Ken, 56, was shot in the leg during the raid. He is in a stable condition in hospital after undergoing surgery.

The men's getaway car - a silver Volkswagen Golf - was later found abandoned nearby in Bournheath Road.

Anyone with information has been urged to contact West Mercia Police or Crimestoppers.

A reward of £50,000 has been offered by the Post Office.
