The fiancee of a sub-postmaster's son killed by armed robbers has said his death has left her future "destroyed".

Craig Hodson-Walker, 29, was shot in the chest and his father, Ken, 56, was shot in the leg in a raid at the post office in Fairfield, Worcestershire.

Lisa Bundy, who got engaged to Craig at Christmas after a 10-year relationship, described him as her "soulmate".

His family is due to attend a service in Fairfield Church on Sunday morning where prayers will be said for Craig.

The Archdeacon of Dudley, the Venerable Fred Trethewey, is due to give an address at the church, which is opposite the post office.

The church has been cordoned off from the Stourbridge side only and police are making arrangements for anyone wishing to attend the service from outside the cordon.

More than 100 officers are involved in the investigation and the area around Fairfield General Stores on Stourbridge Road is being searched for evidence.

'Deeply distressed'

In a statement issued through West Mercia Police, Miss Bundy said: "I can't even start to describe the pain - it feels like someone has ripped out my insides. It just seems like a bad dream.

"Now I have had my future destroyed. Craig deserves for them to get caught because he didn't deserve to die like that."

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Worcester, Dr John Inge, said: "I was deeply distressed to learn of the appalling incident at Fairfield and the whole community there is very much in my prayers, particularly those personally affected by the tragedy."

Police believe three men went into the shop on Friday armed with a handgun and sledgehammer, while a fourth drove the getaway car - a silver Volkswagon Golf.

One was about 6ft tall, white, with a dark hooded top and tracksuit bottoms. The other two were shorter and also wearing dark clothing.

They all had balaclavas or scarves covering their faces. The driver was a white man with a hooded top and a scarf which was pulled up over his face.

A police spokesman said officers believed the Golf car may have been seen parked in Bournheath Road before the robbery.

The vehicle was found in the road a short time after the shooting.

Ken Hodson-Walker remains in a stable condition in hospital following surgery on Friday.

A post-mortem examination on the body of Craig Hodson-Walker was due to take place on Sunday.

A number of robberies have occurred in the Bromsgrove area over the past several months, police said.

Detectives are looking for possible links to three or four other robberies.

The Post Office has offered a £50,000 reward for the gang's capture.
