Arson theory over fire at college

Elgar Technology College
Firefighters were called to the scene on Saturday evening

A fire at a college in Worcester was started deliberately, police believe.

About 35 firefighters tackled the blaze at the gymnasium at Elgar Technology College on Saturday evening.

The roof was badly damaged, but nobody was injured in the fire, which was not as serious as earlier feared, West Mercia Police said.

Fire crews from Worcester, Malvern, Droitwich and Pershore went to the college, which sustained smoke and water damage.
