Witley Court was destroyed by fire in 1937
The ruins of the former home of the Earls of Dudley have been sold to a mystery buyer.
Witley Court, near Great Witley, Worcestershire, was put on the market for about £900,000 in April.
English Heritage, which manages the site, said its owners had accepted an offer on the 40-acre estate which would remain open to the public.
It was considered one of the UK's finest country houses before it was destroyed by fire in 1937.
Large areas have been restored in recent decades but much of it remains a ruin.
