Shop worker held up at knifepoint

A shop worker was held up at knifepoint by a hooded robber in Worcestershire.

The hold-up happened in McColls in Church Hill, Redditch at about 2030 GMT on Wednesday.

The attacker originally demanded money from a female cashier but held a knife to her colleague's back when she refused, police said.

Customers were urged to leave and no-one was injured although the attacker made off with a lot of cash. Anyone with information should call police.

'Father and daughter'

West Mercia Police described the offender as a white man in his 20s, 6ft 2in (1.8m) tall, of medium build, with blue eyes.

He was wearing black jeans, a light-coloured jacket with grey arms and a black scarf around his face. Under the jacket he wore a striped hooded top with the hood worn up.

Det Con Jess Loxley, of West Mercia Police, said: "We know that there were several customers in the shop at the time of the incident and are appealing for everyone of these to get in touch with us as soon as possible as they are likely to be important witnesses.

"We particularly want to speak to a man with a girl aged around 11 years old, possibly father and daughter, who were stood near the till."
