A Worcestershire factory worker has entered a competition to design a new London bus.

Rafal Kudranski, of Redditch, came to the UK from Poland to to find factory work but is also a trained designer.

He is awaiting the results of a competition judged by London mayor Boris Johnson to design a Routemaster bus to replace London's bendy buses.

The rules state the double deckers must be red, seat at least 72 people and have low carbon-dioxide emissions.

The mayor said the new Routemasters could be on London's streets by 2012.
