Residents in a Worcestershire town want to set up an action group after a series of accidents on a busy road.

Ellis Smith, 10, was on his bike when he was involved in a collision with a single-decker bus in Church Hill Way, Redditch, on 31 July.

A woman was knocked over in the same month and two other children have been killed in recent years.

The residents want to set up a charity which would offer support to victims' families and work to improve safety.

More crossings

Spokesman for the group Daniel Sanders, who was friends with one of the children, said something must be done.

Mr Sanders had been friends with Timmy Smith who was killed on the road in 1991.

Three years later another child was killed.

Mr Sanders said he wanted to set up a charity which would offer counselling to friends and families or people involved in traffic accidents.

He also said the group would be lobbying the council to get more crossings put on the road.
